Job Fair participants can plan to attend several Virtual Career Seminars designed to help candidates with their career goals. Candidates will receive an access code to watch the seminar on September 27, 2019.
9:30 a.m. – Job Fair Strategies: Tips for navigating a job fair, including strategies on what to do before, during, and after a networking event with employers.
9: 45 a.m. – Career Success For People With Convictions: The term "felony friendly" is not realistic in the real world; searching for a job can be less difficult using the strategies provided in this seminar. People with convictions need to know the do's and don'ts to reenter the job market and earn a viable income.
10:30 a.m. - Interviewing: Designed to help candidates learn how to prepare for the interview in terms of researching the employer, knowing what to expect in an interview, how to dress properly, how to combat anxiety, and more.
10:45 a.m. - Personal Branding: What makes a consumer buy one product over another — and makes one job-seeker much more sought after than others? This all has to do with your personal branding. Come out to this workshop and learn how to define who you are, how you are great, and why YOU should be sought out.
11:00 a.m. - Social Media and the Job Search: Optimize your job search by learning how to effectively use the most common social media channels utilized by recruiters.
1:10 p.m. - Resume Writing: Designed for candidates unsure of where to begin in writing a resume. We'll discuss the purpose of a resume, the various sections within a resume, different resume styles, and strategies for formatting.
1:35 p.m. - Salary Negotiation: This workshop provides candidates with the necessary skills to negotiate, research the market, and position themselves in the current job market.
2:00 p.m. – Cover Letter Writing: When you send a cover letter for a job, one of three things will happen: It will be ignored, quickly scanned, or shine as a winner—landing you the interview. To write a winning cover letter, you need to know the basic do's and don'ts (formatting, length, order of information, etc.) and you need to practice good business writing (being clear, concise, specific, etc.). But you also need something extra, a spark that shows employers you are the ONE!
