A Long Term Member of Post 32
Livonia Post 32 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 4, and included a special recognition for one of their long time, and I mean long time, members. The Post celebrated member John Cox, a WWII Army Air Corp veteran, for his 100th birthday. Many Post 32 members attended with his family and guests along with a representative from Wayne County Leadership. Mark Sutton, our Michigan Department Public Relations Director, presented Mr. Cox with an award from the American Legion Michigan Department. Jeff Haeseker, 1st District Commander, and Gary DeMars, 1st District Adjutant, presented Mr. Cox with an American Legion Honor Certificate. To close out the event Dan Newton, Post 32 Commander, also presented Mr. Cox with certificates and American Legion memorabilia from Post 32. Dan also let us know an interesting fact about Legionnaire Cox. Mr. Cox at 100 years of age still drives a car and drives to Post 32 each day for a light lunch.
