2020 Veterans Honor Roll
As a past participant in the Detroit Veterans Day Parade, we want to share news about how you can join in on the Virtual Armed Services Salute 2020.
The Armed Services Salute is and has always been, a celebration of Michigan's veterans, active military, civilian community support and the authentic patriotism inspired by that collaboration. While plans were well underway for one of our largest events in 2020, one that honored women veterans, the uncertainty of what this fall would bring us from the Covid 19 pandemic has necessitated a revision of our plans to ensure the safety and health of our veterans and our community.
For 2020, we are conducting a Virtual Armed Services Salute that will be broadcast/livestreamed so veterans and spectators can watch from the safety of their homes. We will be broadcasting an Opening Ceremony that will feature our veterans of honor and female veterans telling the story of women in the Armed Services. We will show footage from past Veterans Day Parades and broadcast/livestream a representative walk around the park. The 4Star 4Mile race will likewise be held virtually.
You can participate in this Virtual Armed Services Salute by registering on our website and sending a photo of you, your group or your service unit, current or past, and we will include it in our broadcast/livestream on November 8th. The segment will be called the Veteran Honor Roll and will run following the Opening Ceremony sequence in the program.
We recognize that a virtual event is not the celebration we wanted for Veterans Day 2020, but we will commemorate it the best we can and look forward to seeing you in person with the biggest and best parade ever in 2020.
We have launched a new website www.mdvcmi.org with detailed information about the virtual event and the form to submit your pictures. Go to 2020 Detroit Veterans Honor Roll to send those pictures now and join the 2020 Detroit Veterans Day Parade Honor Roll.
