Michigan American Legion COVID Update 1-13-2021

Latest Health Director Directives
Legionnaires,

Governor Whitmer held a press conference today and announced that non-residential venues, including bars and restaurants, will remain closed until at least February 1.

For Posts with facilities, remember the national organization has grants available, more information can be seen here: https://www.legion.org/financialassistance/250756/legion-posts-affected-covid-can-apply-1000-grant

Check with the Small Business Administration to see if your post qualifies for assistance from the federal government. https://www.sba.gov/page/coronavirus-covid-19-small-business-guidance-loan-resources#section-header-0

Please note that the department has received information that Posts have been conducting in-person meetings during this recent shutdown. The department's position is that the directive is clear, "non-residential venues are closed." Non-residential venues include all the posts in Michigan.

If a post has a bingo hall for the purposes of playing bingo that they may be open to the public with the restrictions in place to facilitate bingo.

We know this has been difficult on everyone and want this over as soon as possible, but we also want everyone to be safe and obey the laws in place.

Thank you for your patience,

Sincerely,

Mark Sutton
