Post and District Election Procedures IF there are meeting restrictions

Dear District and Post Commanders,

Post and District Elections are coming up and the department wants Posts and Districts to be prepared if at the time of their elections they cannot meet.

Note as of this writing there is no State restriction from Posts or Districts being able to meet as long as they abide by the rules of the current executive order. See the department's document on Can a Post or District hold a meeting? - Here

It is the intent of the Department of Michigan for Posts and Districts to hold their meetings in person according to the Post or District Constitution and Bylaws. If an in-person meeting is allowed in the Post's or District's location, then all other methods are not allowed. In this case, the vote shall be held in accordance with the post or district Constitution and Bylaws.

However, should National, State, or Local regulations prevent in-person meetings, Posts, and Districts are being instructed to hold their nominations per the following documents:

These methods were created by the Department Judge Advocate and approved by the Department Executive Committee on February 11, 2021.
